This year, St. Paul High School joined forces with Local 93 Carpenters Union and Algonquin College in a transformative partnership, giving students the chance to build more than just structures—they’re building their futures. This innovative program, led by Local 93 Instructor and St. Paul’s Carpentry Teacher Chad Legault, goes beyond the classroom, offering students real-world skills and hands-on experience that set them up for success in the construction industry.
A Foundation for Future Success
Graduates from this unique program don’t just acquire new skills; they join a community. Upon completion, students are registered as apprentices and invited to become members of the Local 93 Brotherhood. In this role, they receive the same benefits, support, and camaraderie that seasoned union members enjoy.
Adding to their toolkit, Algonquin College joins the journey by bringing Level 1 Apprenticeship Training to St. Paul’s doorstep. Students also dive into a dual-credit Blueprint Reading course, bridging their school experience with on-campus learning that sharpens their skills and prepares them for what’s next.
Deep Learning in Action
This partnership takes Deep Learning to the next level. Students not only master the tools and techniques of carpentry but also build character, collaboration, and confidence. As they tackle real-world projects, they gain a sense of independence and resilience that will guide them well beyond their high school years.
Thanks to the invaluable support of Local 93 and Algonquin College, St. Paul students are forging strong foundations—both in their careers and their lives. Together, we’re not just teaching carpentry; we’re empowering young builders to dream big and craft their own futures.
