This past school year has highlighted the strength of our community’s commitment to Catholic education. We are thankful for the tremendous support from our families, staff, and students, which has been essential to the success of the 2023-2024 school year. Together, we have fostered learning, faith, and compassion environments, allowing students to grow academically while deepening their understanding of service and community building.
Our guiding Strategic Commitments—Be Well, Be Community, and Be Innovative—have been meaningfully embraced across our 87 schools. These values serve as a foundation for students to excel academically while fostering a genuine commitment to making a difference locally and globally. With strong EQAO assessment results and high graduation rates, our students consistently outperform the province. Beyond academics, our students are becoming informed and active citizens who recognize the importance of kindness and taking action.
In 2023-2024, OCSB students succeeded across various disciplines, bringing home top honours in arts, athletics, French and immersion competitions, and national awards in cybersecurity. Our students excelled in Skills Ontario and Skills Canada, and many schools received Platinum ECO certification. The OCSB was again recognized as one of Ontario’s top Boards for energy conservation. These accomplishments result from dedicated educators, staff, and supportive families working together to provide enriching learning experiences.
This year, we celebrated the opening of two new schools: St. Bernadette and St. Juan Diego. Thanks to the collective efforts of our teams and the invaluable support of parents and community members, these schools have quickly become vibrant additions to their neighbourhoods.
To our parents and guardians, your involvement—whether through volunteering, attending school events, or contributing as part of SEAC, PIC, CSPA, and IEAC—strengthens our school communities. Your commitment is foundational to our Board’s success, and we are honoured that you have chosen an Ottawa Catholic education for your child.
As we reflect on the accomplishments and growth of this past year, we also look forward to the future with hope. We enter the next school year inspired by our new Spiritual Theme, “We are called to open doors, build bridges, and nourish new beginnings.” This theme invites us to embrace each new day as an opportunity to foster connections, extend compassion, and create welcoming spaces for all. Together, we are building a future rooted in faith, inclusivity, and community, and we look forward to journeying with you.
